How to create a Wellness Spa at home

We all love to be pampered but it can be hard to schedule into busy lives so we want to treat you with our best tips and tricks to create an amazing sanctuary for you to escape into at your very own home.

Let your family know when you plan on having time to yourself

This is such an important first step, plan around your family and any conflicting plans. It can be very frustrating to be interrupted so do what you can to find a suitable time where that is minimised.

Ditch the phone

The biggest distraction you have! It can be hard to give up but you need to leave your phone behind to truly relax. Switch it off and unwind.

Explore what relaxes you most

This is different for everyone. Some relax best with the comfort of a hot bath filled with the beautiful aromas of their favourite bath soaks and do nothing but close the eyes and rest. Others like to feel fully rejuvenated with a refreshing body scrub and spend the time pampering their skin with a full skincare routine.

You might enjoy a bit of everything plus a cosy book and a sneaky glass of wine!

Set the mood

It’s impossible to relax if you’re having a bath with bright fluorescent bathroom lights glaring down on you and the sounds of kids, pets, partners or anything else distracting overpowering the room. What makes Urban Vogue a place of total mind and body rejuvenation is that we work hard to create a relaxing atmosphere. Keep the light to a minimum, and use beautifully scented candles to fill the room with your favourite aroma and give off a natural warm glow. Your choice of music is important too, look for meditation or spa playlists to dampen the noise of normal life and let your mind slow down.

Make sure everything is within arms reach

If you’re relaxing in the tub the last thing you want is to immerse yourself in the comfort of a bath only to realise you’ve left something behind! I like to store my essential ‘spa night’ products together in my bathroom: Body Scrub, Bath soaks, candles, face washers, weekly face mask, body oils etc.

If you can, ‘hire’ a spa assistant

When I really need some TLC, I enlist the help of my partner to make my home spa feel really authentic. All I ask of him is about 10 minutes into my soak to come in with my favourite relaxation tea and biscuits (or, if it’s been a particularly long week, cheese and wine) such a simple 5-minute gift from your partner makes the experience so special!

So now you know the best tricks of the trade,
what are you waiting for?
